Associate Cinematic Director, Ubisoft Sofia

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows was another ambitious project I was fortunate to be part of. My role was to take care of the cinematic direction for the cutscenes produced at Ubisoft Sofia.
Every project has its own challenges, and for AC: Shadows, the most exciting one was definitely the setting. Just like when I approach a new theatre piece, I spent much of the pre-production phase diving deep into Japanese culture -both medieval and modern. I wanted to understand the customs, etiquette, and rhythm of life from that time; how people speak, move, and gesture. The goal was to bring authenticity to the characters’ performances, to make them feel grounded and believable despite the inevitable limitations of a game production.
We already had a strong vision for how the game should look and feel, but within that framework, I wanted to refine and define further the cinematic language of the quests our team was responsible for.
I can’t share too many details, but here are a few examples of the scenes we produced.
